Birmingham City Council has an excellent and validated track record of providing high quality outcomes focused social services to a wide range of client groups across Birmingham. You’ll offer counselling and advocacy to Adults and vital support for the Qualified Social Workers based with the North Birmingham Mental Health team.

What you'll need to succeed
Working as a Social Work Assistant on the out of hours mental health team. You could be supporting a range of individuals, those with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and mental health conditions such as people with depression, anxiety, schizophrenia and personality disorders.
  • Support the Social Workers
  • Case Recording
  • Joint Visits
  • Finding out what type of care and support each individual requires
  • Assessments to ensure that people care receiving the correct care for them
  • Offering information and counselling
  • Assisting with intervening and acting when people need support or safeguarding
  • Keeping records updated of individuals and writing reports.

As a Social worker Facilitator you will have the ability to communicate effectively with other professionals, colleagues, individuals you support and families/carers and have the ability to support individuals with their personal needs in a respectful and dignified manner. Strong people skills are a requirement for almost any job in the social sector but as a Social Work Assistant these skills will be really tested and essential.

What you'll need to succeed
  • Previous experience working within Health Care Adults
  • Ideally hold a Social care qualification
  • DBS Adults and Children requited. One can be completed for not.
  • Ideal for those completing a degree in social work however is not essential
