Tool Technician

Tool Technician/Toolmaker Job - 6 month contract. Double days shifts, Monday - Friday

Your new company
My client is a multi-national business with an impressive portfolio of work. They have maintained a strong order book throughout the COVID-19 crisis and continue to grow their business. They are constantly developing in new areas and looking at ways to grow further. This has lead to the need for a new Maintenance Engineer to join them for a 6 month contract.

Your new role
You will maintain all in-house tooling and make sure that all tools are fit for purpose and safe to use. You main duties will be:
  • Tool splitting
  • Carry out all tooling breakdowns in a timely manner.
  • Working on Press Tools of up to 400 tonnes
  • Disassembly and reassembly of tools
  • Regrinding tools
  • Problem solving
  • Tool improvement
  • Working from engineering drawing
  • Liaise with tooling manufacturers when required
  • Keep up to date spares inventory.
  • Effectively identify day to day tooling issues and implement corrective action where required.
  • Ensures all tooling is safe and production ready at the time returned for production use, following correct preventative maintenance (PM) process.
  • Follow up repair work by seeking feedback from the production and quality departments and completing a record of the work undertaken.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role you will need:
  • To be a Time served apprentice Toolmaker.
  • Have previous experience as a Toolmaker
  • Have excellent hand tool skills. (hand tools will be supplied)
  • Experience working on Press Tools (up to 400 ton)
  • Be able to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • To be competent in working with Tool room equipment including overhead cranes. (Must have licence/ certificates and relevant training )
  • To be competent in Inspection equipment. (micrometer, height indicator, etc.),
  • To be competent in using milling machine, lathe, surface grinder, bench grinder, etc.
  • Have the ability to follow and execute the preventative maintenance program.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills at all levels within the business.
  • Be able to manage and prioritise numerous tasks.
  • Have experience in manufacturing environment.
