School Office Manager required for a school in Islington.
Hays Education are working on behalf of a school in Islington, London that are looking for a School Office Manager cover a long-term vacancy with potential to become permanent for the right candidate, starting as soon as possible.

Working as a School Office Manager you will need to combine your school based office management experience and school SIMS administration knowledge to support the school 6th form department and manage a busy school office.

Office Manager
1. Lead and co-ordinate the efficient operation of the school administration service,
providing such support services as word processing, maintenance of databases,
staff and student records, filing systems and dealing with telephone calls and
2. To liaise with the Administration Manager in the setting of aims and objectives
for the office, ensuring they are met to the highest standards and to
predetermined timescales
3. Develop and maintain effective information storage retrieval systems, i.e. filing,
databases, scanning of student records
4. To promote the development of computer aided administration within the school,
ensuring that all records are kept accurately and comply with the requirements
for the Data Protection Act
5. Organise meeting agendas and minutes, notes of key discussions and action
points and distribute as required.
6. To liaise with staff and outside agencies as necessary
7. To manage and organise a variety of support functions such as:
a. Administering the school’s admissions procedures and accurately
maintaining the pupil related information system
b. Secondary transfer
c. Exclusions
d. Intake of new pupils including mid-term admissions
e. Administration of Year 10 work experience
8. To organise interpreters as necessary
9. Supervise the work of administrative staff ensuring adequate deployment to
meet the needs and priorities of the school.
10. Ensure adequate cover for leave of absence, holidays and sickness.
11. Plan work schedules, ensuring all office staff are aware of impending work
12. Delegate work to office staff as and when necessary
13. Support the work of all office staff and assist in career development of those staff
14. Induct new members of office staff
15. Manage an appraisal system for relevant office staff and review job descriptions
and identity training needs as appropriate
16. Assist in training provision
17. Maintaining the condition of the office and arranging for necessary repairs

Sixth Form Administrator

General Administrative Duties
1. Application/interview/admissions process
2. PR/Advertising
3. Data entry
4. Communication and correspondence (Newsletter, website and letters
5. Sixth Form Diary
6. Draft and type correspondence, reports and other documents as required
7. Photocopy, distribute and file documents.
8. Greeting visitors and answering the telephone.
9. Some evening work may be required for Open Evenings, Prize Giving, etc.
