HSE Advisor £27,000+ per annum Based in Hull Full Time, Permanent position

Your new role
The HSE Advisor will be responsible to the Health and Safety Manager for ensuring that the company maintains a consistent approach to the development and maintenance of adequate standards of Health and Safety and to ensure a safe workplace environment without risk to health and safety.

Principal accountabilities and activities for this role are:

  • Manage the company SSR and accident data base and report weekly updates to stakeholders.
  • To maintain and develop the company’s certifications ISO14001 and 18001
  • To manage accident and near miss investigations and plan improvements to reduce accidents.
  • To ensure that the company meets environmental and Health & Safety objectives within the timescale given.
  • To provide environmental and H&S support to stakeholders.
  • To manage the HSE budget and PPE for the site.
  • Updating management on both legislative and non-legislative changes that may have an impact on the site and to ensure compliance with all Statutory Regulations.
  • To maintain contact with representatives of external organisations including insurers, loss adjuster, suppliers and enforcing authorities
  • Produce and maintain all H&S Emergency documentation
  • To be the ‘Responsible Person’ for the purposes of the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations in respect of all premises and work activities under their control
  • Maintenance of accident statistics, including analysis of trends and proposing and taking remedial action where necessary
  • Ensure the completion and regular review of risk assessments for all work equipment and operations.
  • Ensuring the provision and proper use of all items of protective clothing, having assessed the suitability of such personal protective equipment prior to it being issued.
  • To produce improvement plans based on audits and other means of assessments and to monitor progress against these plans.
  • Monitoring that the COSHH Register is kept up-to-date and assessments made at regular intervals
  • To advise upon and deliver, where necessary, a structured programme of health and safety training throughout the company
  • Ensuring that environmental monitoring is carried out on a regular basis.

What you'll need to succeed
  • Experience in a similar HS&E role is essential.
  • NEBOSH Certificate is essential
  • Experience within a manufacturing environment would be desirable
  • Able to work autonomously
  • Excellent communication skills; written and verbal
