Product Developer (Sportswear)

A sports company in Manchester are seeking a Product Developer with knowledge of sportswear
Your new company
A well-established sportswear and performance wear company based in the North West have a vacancy for a Junior Product Developer who has an understanding of sportswear. This role reports into a knowledgeable and really lovely manager who will be able to help you develop further in your career.

Your new role
You will work within the development team and be responsible for taking products from the development stage through to production. You will develop new products and ensure the design, fit and colour continuity of existing ranges, while managing the Critical Path for a timely product launches. You will liaise with factories and create detailed product packs with construction, fabric, and trim information. You will create and maintain specs for garments, select fabric and trims based on design aesthetics and desired product performance while maintaining the commercial viability of the product. You will be responsible for fitting prototype samples, sending fit & construction comments to factories and ensuring the consistency of fit and quality from prototype to pre-production and shipment samples. There will be the opportunity to travel with this role and visit the Far East annually, accompanying your manager.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role you should have a knowledge and passion for product development, preferably from within the sportswear industry or a keen interest in sports. Some demonstrable experience of taking commercially strong products to market in a similar garment technology / product development role. You will have a relevant degree or be educated at degree level in a fashion/product design, garment technology or sportswear apparel design.
