Experienced Domestic Violence Support Worker
Your new company
This local and well-established women’s refuge in the Wolverhampton area, are looking for two experienced evening support workers to join their expanding team on a permanent full-time basis, working 40 hours a week. This refuge largely focuses on providing support to their adult service users and their children, who come from domestic violence backgrounds, homelessness and abuse. This organisation has an excellent reputation in helping and building up vulnerable women and children and giving them back their basic human rights.

Your new role
Within the role of Evening Support Worker you will support women and children of all different ages and backgrounds, working 1500-2300. You will provide continuous emotional support, help with their financial and administrative tasks, ensure that they feel safe and secure at all time, checking in with all the residents of the refuge and general maintenance. You will also be responsible for taking over the live chat facility to advise and speak with women who contact you in an emergency. You will also be ensuring that respect, dignity and confidentiality is maintained at all times.

What you'll need to succeed
To be suitable for this job, you will need to have relevant and recent experience working with vulnerable women who come from a domestic violence, homelessness and/or abusive background and within a similar refuge setting. You will be able to work unsociable hours on occasions if required to undertake internal activities or external continued professional development activities. This refuge operates a varied shift pattern, including evenings and weekends. You must be flexible to complete a mixture of shifts. It is essential that you will be able to provide two relevant references, working a minimum of 6 months in the last two years, to meet our compliance requirements. Level 3 Qualification in Working with Survivors of Domestic Violence or equivalent is desirable but not essential.
