HEO Case Officer

An opportunity to join a non-ministerial department as a HEO Case Officer/Paralegal for up to 6 months

Your new company
An independent non-ministerial department responsible for strengthening business competition and preventing and reducing anti-competitive activities. There are a number of opportunities to assist and lead on multiple merger cases at a time, working as part of a multidisciplinary team of lawyers, economists, financial and business advisors and regulatory specialists

Your new role
As the Case officer, you will contribute to the delivery of high quality analysis and decisions in the merger cases. You will support multidisciplinary teams to ensure the day to day running of cases as well as liaising with merging parties and third parties regarding the provision of information and the deadlines for delivery. You will also be involved in drafting correspondence to external stakeholders regarding process, meetings, information requests and submissions. Moreover, you will prepare drafts of template documents, with appropriate support, guidance and supervision of other colleagues ensuring that organisational tasks, including internal and external meetings on projects, site visits and hearings, are efficiently carried out and properly documented through minutes and attendance notes. Finally, you will ensure case filing systems are appropriately implemented and maintained by logging correspondence and submissions and ensuring decisions are accurately filed.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this role, you should be able to demonstrate strong administrative and organisational skills, including experience of using organisational systems and procedures for case or document management, and the ability to prioritise work to meet tight deadlines. Moreover, you should be able to demonstrate evidence of strong research and analysis skills, with experience of gathering, analysing, summarising and presenting, legal, financial and business information would be a distinct advantage. Finally, some knowledge of and experience in merger control, competition law in a legal or regulatory environment would provide a distinct advantage.
