A school receptionist position has become available at a school in Bath. The job is Full time, temporary, 37 hours per week (8.30 a.m. – 5.00 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 8.30 a.m. – 4.30 p.m. Friday). This school is rates GOOD by Ofsted. Your new role

The School Secretary (Pastoral) is mainly responsible for providing day to day secretarial and administrative support to the Deputy Head (Pastoral) and Senior School teaching staff with primarily pastoral responsibilities; also, to Head of Careers, and Heads of Sixth Form, Middle School and Lower School. Secretarial support: word processing, checking, editing and formatting letters, minutes, reports, dictation etc.; filing; occasional photocopying; making appointments; e-mail and/or telephone messages; and other general secretarial duties as required. Pastoral administration: maintaining and filing physical and electronic records and reports regarding detention, disciplinary and other pastoral matters for current pupils. Maintaining the School’s Discipline Record Which records Headmaster’s Detention, suspensions and exclusions. Providing email communication to parents through InTouch/School comms as required. Providing administrative support for the prefectural system, particularly in the Spring term.

What you'll need to succeed

You will need to possess a high level of literacy, be articulate, and have a good telephone manner. You will need to be computer literate with specific knowledge of spreadsheets and databases. Have previous experience either as a school secretary or in office administration. Have a high level of administrative efficiency with the ability to work to tight deadlines under pressure. Demonstrate an ability to deal with confidential information in a discreet and sensitive manner. Have an engaging manner, a good sense of humour, and a genuine liking for children. You must be a good team-worker and be able to develop positive working relationships with colleagues. Be a good ambassador for the School always. Have the initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision. References will be requested.
