Regional Senior Director, China Region, Vaccine Epidemiology and Modeling (VEM)

This position is to develop and lead Sanofi Pasteur’s epidemiology and health economics evidence generation strategy to support the company’s vaccine portfolio strategy in order to shape a favorable environment for our existing products and for the launch of new products in China.
The Regional Senior Director, VEM - China will ensure smooth planning and execution of the activities led by the country staff, ensuring strong alignment between the global franchise strategies and the regional/local business opportunities. This high quality research agenda will be built in consultation with the business, key thought leaders and major stakeholder groups such as public health institutions and payers.
He will have a key role in demonstrating the value to the VEM team, translating the research outcomes into sound business opportunities when interfacing with global functions representatives and to bring the voice of the regions into global team meetings.

Support the elaboration of the epidemiology and health economics evidence generation strategy across emerging regions in close collaboration with global partners and regional stakeholders (Market Access, Medical Affairs, Public Affairs, Policy and Commercial Operations)

What you'll need to succeed

This senior level position delivers both research and strategic direction for China. This position will report
to the Head of VEM responsible for Asia/JPAC, China and AMEE regions (Intercontinental Region). VEM
department is coordinating large evidence generation activities in collaboration with Public Health
Institutions and/or Universities to shape vaccine policies and evaluate vaccination impact.
This position supervise 2 country staff in China who are coordinating projects in China. In the future, with
an expansion of the VEM team in China, this role will have supervisory responsibility of more people. This
position has accountability for a budget allocation of about 2-5M€ per year.
This position will focus on important new product launches over the next 5 years (RSV, new flu vaccines,
Meningitis), as well as, life cycle management of existing vaccines (pediatric combos, endemic vaccines,
dengue). To be successful at this, the candidate must constantly strive for excellence in science and
business. Further, the candidate must have passion for the company’s mission to improve human health by
developing superior innovative vaccination solutions against infectious diseases, and to engage with the
public health community to maximize and sustain vaccination impact.

PhD in Epidemiology/Public Health/ Health /Economics or focused on quantitative analysis. Preference will be given to individuals with a Medical (MD) or Pharmacy (PharmD) qualification.
More than 10 years of public health research experience demonstrated with relevant publications record
Previous experience working on vaccines or infectious diseases and in the emerging markets
Expertise in developing epidemiological studies
Fluent in English and Mandarin. Fluency in additional languages will be a bonus.
