DMPK Project Leader

My client is a rapidly expanding Global Pharmaceutical Development company in Hertfordshire, a state-of-the-art Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standard facilities for the development of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API), formulation development and process chemistry, site.

Due to constant growth there is now the opportunity to be part of integral drug discovery teams leading the provision of expert opinion and guidance on DMPK and PKPD to integrated small molecule projects.

Contribute to the organisation and running of the company UK Drug Discovery department. Work with global DMPK groups to advance capability.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver the DMPK/PKPD strategy for small molecule drug discovery projects from hit-finding through to candidate selection.
  • Design ADME/ PK/ pharmacology studies conducted using established company platforms and partner organisations.
  • Interpret results, integrate with data from other disciplines and contextualise for the project aims. This includes, but is not limited to, optimisation of ADME and PK properties, DDI assessments, formulation recommendations, PKPD modelling, human extrapolation, human dose prediction.
  • Provide scientific leadership to deliver clear decisions, project milestones and development candidate molecules of exceptional quality for partnering organisations.
  • Use modelling and simulation to guide design and interpretation of DMPK and in vivo pharmacology experiments.
  • Conduct human projections of PK and dose using algorithms and software packages.
  • Work collaboratively and present plans, data and achievements to external partners and to internal project team members.
  • Provide expert technical direction and apply innovation to problem solving in projects across the PDDSE organisation
  • Ensure open, timely and transparent communication with partners.
  • Contribute to:
    • The continued development of an outstanding drug discovery group
    • A learning and peer review culture
    • Development of new DMPK capabilities and promoting services for Pharmaron
    • The creation of an environment of respectful scientific debate, to bring the best science to Pharmaron and its partner organisations.

Requirements:

  • PhD or equivalent experience in relevant scientific discipline, pharmacology, pharmaceutical sciences with multi-year experience in DMPK drug discovery and development projects and good understanding of related disciplines.
  • 5 years of experience leading in the DMPK/ADME discipline in project teams.
  • Demonstrable success in optimising small molecule properties.
  • Up to date DMPK science knowledge including in vitro/in vivo relationships, human prediction, developability assessments, modelling principals, physicochemical properties as related to DMPK outcomes.
  • Familiarity with the use of IT tools and software packages required for PK, PBPK and PKPD analysis, modelling and simulation
  • A history of scientific publication and presentations.
  • Modelling and simulation experience in PBPK and/or PKPD modelling
  • A demonstrated ability to work across geographies and cultures.
  • Multi therapeutic area / route of administration experience.
