Research Associate/Scientist – Antibody and Protein Purification

My client is a rapidly growing biotech company specialising in creating a unique and cutting-edge antibody based therapeutic platform. They are currently looking to rapidly expand their R&D team over the next 12 months and are currently seeking an experienced Research Associate or Junior Research Scientist to help support their team in antibody engineering and to develop and drive new drug discovery applications.

The role:
  • Carry out essential Molecular Biology and Protein Biochemistry techniques
  • Protein production and purification
  • Design and generate DNA display libraries.
  • SPR/BLI (Biacore or Octet), ELISA and cell-based assays.
  • Work with initiative, taking on a variety of duties when necessary to meet project deadlines
  • Have an organised and methodical approach to implementation of experimental procedures
  • Keep accurate records, write and present regular progress reports

The Candidate:
  • A BSc or MSc in biology/biochemistry/molecular biology/biotechnology.
  • Skills in molecular biology, manipulating DNA and/or creating expression constructs.
  • A good understanding of characterising protein-protein interactions by ELISA.
  • Experience of recombinant E. coli expression systems, protein purification and characterisation.
  • A background in antibody/protein engineering
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently within a small dynamic team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
