Senior Director Real World Evidence - Epidemiology

RWE - Epidemiology Senior Director for global biopharma company in London. Strategic and hands-on duties

Your new company
Is an innovative global biopharma company, currently undergoing a period of sustained growth, who are looking to strengthen their senior management team within RWE & Real World Data. They are hiring a Senior Director of Real World Evidence for their site in London to develop and lead the strategy across several continents. The company has a good in-market presence, a strong pipeline of candidate molecules, and an excellent corporate atmosphere.

Your new role
This is a senior leadership role (Director and above in scope), taking charge of setting up and leading a number of the RWE, Epidemiology and Observational Research activities on a global scale.
Once the structure and strategy is in place you will be responsible for building your own team, as well as continuing to work with other RWE colleagues across the globe.
As well as significant strategic responsibilities, the role will also encompass a number of hands-on duties.

Other responsibilities will include:
  • Drawing insights out of large scale real-world data sets to help shape the company’s R&D and clinical portfolio of medicines;
  • Leading a portfolio of observational research studies, including innovative method development;
  • Manage cross-functional teams, in combination with colleagues across departments such as Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Patient Safety and Health Economics / Market Access;
  • Act as a global expert on RWE & observational research issues – providing strategic and tactical support;
  • Developing and implementing observational research strategy, SOPs, policies and frameworks across multiple countries;
  • Working with internal and external stakeholders and external, including payers, policy makers and patient groups; and
  • Identify and fix potential shortfalls and gaps within the company’s observational research strategy.

What you'll need to succeed
As well as excellent communication, organisational and senior management skills, you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • A significant track record of leading epidemiology / observational research / real world studies, ideally across multiple countries or regions;
  • At least an MSc (or equivalent) in statistics, epidemiology, health economics, outcomes / health policy research, or a related discipline - with a strong preference for a PhD;
  • Experience of developing and implementing strategy for real world data, RWE, epidemiology or similar areas within either a pharmaceutical / biotech company or a consulting firm;
  • An excellent knowledge of study design and implementation for large-scale epidemiological / observational studies;
  • The ability to relay complex, technical information from real world studies to cross-functional teams, stakeholders and non-technical audiences.

Experience with rare diseases would be a plus, as would a good knowledge of observational / epidemiology research design across multiple European countries.

Candidates who have a track record of managing a department are at an advantage.
