The Faculty/Directorate

IT and Media Service Directorate (ITMS) ITMS is a forward-thinking and proactive centralised directorate that supports all of the organisations business technology including, Infrastructure, AV and Multimedia, Service Management, Applications and Systems support and Programmes and Planning.

Recent major investments include multimillion pound programmes to refresh the University IT infrastructure and core business systems, delivering transformative change underpinned by the implementation of SAP Finance, HR/Payroll, student Lifecycle management and CRM. With these foundations in place the next stage is to deliver a digital revolution, leveraging opportunities provided by technologies such as cloud-based services, data analytics, the Internet of Things and Office 365. Achievement of this ambitious strategy is dependent on hiring talented professional experts and managing the risks to the safe and secure use of data.

The Role

We are seeking to recruit a professional IT Governance and Security Manager, who is able to assess the risks to the university network and systems, and to identify and address these risks through implementing proactive monitoring, governance, and mitigation in conjunction with technical colleagues across ITMS and the broader University. You will have the opportunity to work in an ambitious and forward-thinking University and make a positive contribution to the student experience.

The primary role is to proactively address the cyber-security threats to the University, both from external and internal sources.

The Person

You will be highly technically competent with a good knowledge of networking, authentication, and software applications, along with strong risk assessment, planning, compliance and audit skills. You will have experience of investigating data, security and information incidents, and identifying root causes. You will have an understanding of GDPR, cyber security and governance frameworks, and keen to apply these in an ambitious and thriving University environment.

In order to apply, you must have the following skills and experience:

• Relevant professional ICT or management qualification, or equivalent level of experience.
• Certified Information Security Manager or equivalent.
• Experience of defining and maintaining an organisations Cyber-Security plan including proactive management of incidents.
• Able to act as a subject matter expert regarding security accreditations, leading the compliance to agreed codes of conduct including Cyber-Essentials, Cyber-Essentials Plus and ISO27001.
• Has a good working knowledge of the Data Protection Act, Freedom of Information Act and GDPR.
• Experience of disaster recovery planning.
• Able to demonstrate ability to develop and comply with policy, standards, procedures and processes relating to area of responsibility with limited supervision.
