Finance Manager (Deputy 151 Officer)
The Finance team is expected to operate within a business partnering model; supporting services to achieve their optimum performance. The Finance team is currently being restructured so this is a great opportunity for the successful candidate to lead the ‘all-new’ Finance service. The department has three main teams that cover all the core financial activity of a District Council; Business Partnering, Transactions and finally Systems Administration. This role will be crucial in supporting and developing the teams and the strategic direction of the council and therefore must be able to, and want to, think ‘outside of the box’ and bring constructive challenge to the way things are done.
There is an ongoing ambitious Transformation and modernisation programme that seeks to drive growth and investment in the local economy, whist at the same time ensuring the organisation delivers great results for Huntingdonshire at the best possible value. Empowered to challenge the status quo and bring best practice from across the public and private sector, this role will drive through organisational change and support continuous improvement to services and provide key leadership on how the organisation will manage its finances going forward.
The Finance Manger (Deputy 151 Officer) will be a qualified accountant with extensive experience working within finance at a senior level within a Local Authority. You will be an excellent leader, have empathy, and make sound judgements reflecting political astuteness. You will be confident in presenting to and engaging with a range of key stakeholders including the Senior Management Team, Leaders, and Members, and will be a key face of Huntingdonshire District Council. Most importantly you must have drive, ambition, and passion to be at the leading edge of the change agenda and embodying the recently developed “iCare” corporate values.
