Risk & Governance Officer

This role will support the design and development of Risk & Control Framework and the maintenance / operation of the Framework once developed. 

  • Support the design / development of aspects of Risk & Control Framework: Policies; Processes / control rating criteria; Mechanisms for inclusion of external indicators (regulators, 2nd and 3rd line view etc.)
  • To assist with the operation / maintenance of Risk & Control Framework
  • To assist teams in their understanding of and how to use Risk & Control Framework
  • To help coordinate risk, control and governance activity with other 1st Line departments 
  • To assist in the tracking and mitigation of low level incidents in line with the Incident management framework
  • To produce appropriate risk and control reporting to operational management; exec management and Boards as appropriate

Experience
  • Good experience of the FCA and/or the Financial Services regulatory environment
  • Good understanding of Risk Management – both operational and conduct
  • Stakeholder management skills and experience
  • Excellent attention to detail with good verbal and writing ability
  • Good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Solutions-focused to assist the business on moving forward with effective controls
  • Experience of operation of risk and control frameworks
  • Ability to communicate and negotiate at all levels
  • Diplomacy and ability to deliver constructive feedback
  • Good organisational skills plus the ability to motivate people across the organisation

Managing conduct risk You should be able to demonstrate that you pay due regard to customers and treat them fairly by:
  • Promoting a strong risk culture across the department with staff at every level being able to raise risks and incidents
  • Making the fair treatment of customers central to all organisational changes, procedural changes and policy decisions that you make approve or oversee.
  • Always demonstrating fair customer treatment to other employees – leading by example.
  • Rewarding the fair treatment of customers by other employees.
  • Being able to explain the impact that your role and actions have on the fair treatment of customers
  • Being able to explain the potential implications for customers who are not treated fairly by you or others.
  • Always seeking to be competent to do your job e.g. by completing all compulsory regulatory training on time to ensure that you have all the necessary knowledge and skills.


Qualifications
  • At least 5 years experience in an FCA regulated environment
  • Preferably working towards a risk or regulatory related qualification or qualified by experience
  • Experience of Microsoft applications
