Year 1 Teacher

Year 1 teaching job, on a full time basis, covering maternity from October half term or sooner if possible.

Your new school
A single form entry primary school, located outside of Dudley in a well integrated mixed catchment area, graded as 'good' by Ofsted. The school has been described as having "a real family atmosphere, with each child included and valued". This is a high achieving school, where children make good progress across school from year 1 to year 6 and throughout reception, they make rapid progress, reaching a good level of development, so they are well prepared for their move into key stage 1. Interventions are provided across school, for each year group from reception, which facilitates the high expectations and rapid progress. Good behaviour is the norm across school, parental support is high and the senior leadership team consists of the Head Teacher who has been in post since 2003, a Deputy Head who is an ex Maths Consultant for Dudley Local Authority and an Assistant Head Teacher who is passionate about English. There is a strong team ethos throughout the school and support is readily available. The classrooms have been re-furbished, there are Chrome books and good ICT facilities available and this is a school where staff are happy to travel to, thanks to the working environment available.

Your new role
This is a maternity leave post starting after the October half term holiday, however there is the opportunity to start earlier to allow a handover with the outgoing teacher, where possible. You will teach a class of 30 year 1 children and will direct a Teaching Assistant during each morning. You will hold full responsibility for planning, assessment and pupil development and will teach the class for 2 and a half terms, until July 2018. You will also administer the Year 1 phonics screening test.

What you'll need to succeed
You will want to undertake the full responsibility of class teacher, being willing to carry out full planning, assessment, record keeping, attending staff meetings, parents evenings and writing end of year reports.

What you'll get in return
Throughout this maternity leave, you will receive full support from the school's senior leadership team and will benefit from attending full CPD opportunities.
