Molecular Binding Kinetic Scientist Biotech SPR surface plasmon resonance BLI biolayer interference antibody


A new and exciting lab-based position has opened up for a Molecular Binding Kinetics Scientist at one of the leading Biotechs in Antibody Research and Development.

The suitable candidate will be a specialist in measuring biomolecular interactions using surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and biolayer interference (BLI). They will be responsible for providing expertise in this area to support Antibody Discovery. In addition to the technical skills this position also requires a high level of motivation, enthusiasm, sense of urgency and flexibility to adapt to new situations quickly.


Main duties and responsibilities

• Design and execution of scientifically sound binding kinetic studies using SPR or BLI technology
• Generation and delivery of high quality and well documented kinetic data packages to support drug discovery & development
• Provide innovative solutions for the characterisation of complex molecules such as bispecifics and staying ahead with new technology developments
• Meticulous record keeping and data interpretation for use in research reports, patent filings and publications
• Training of other staff and transfer of knowledge

Key skills: 

• PhD (or equivalent) plus substantial job experience in a relevant position
• Thorough understanding of the current Biacore or BioRad SPR and BLI (Octet) instruments and analysis software
• Deep theoretical understanding of underlying binding kinetics and molecular interactions
• Experience with using SPR or BLI for epitope mapping and binning
• Good understanding of industrial drug discovery
• Experience in labelling proteins and using SPR for QC analysis
