Production Manager - Diagnostics / Biopharmaceutical

Experienced GMP production manager for global diagnostics company in M4 corridor. ELISA, PCR, bio experience

Your new company
Your new employer is a global diagnostics company, growing their market share in the UK. They produce a range of innovative diagnostic kits, and are looking to add an experienced production manager to their team.

Your new role
You will be taking the lead on technical manufacturing issues for the UK site of this company.
Major responsibilities will include:

  • Taking charge of the manufacture of all product ranges, which involves multiple product lines and high throughput manufacturing (products include ELISA and PCR based diagnostics);
  • Line managing the team of technical production staff, including identifying training and development opportunities;
  • Ensuring that all  raw materials and in-house material is QC tested and cleared;
  • Assessing SOPs and protocols for manufacturing and helping develop new ones;
  • Looking at manufacturing strategy, with a view to significantly increasing manufacturing output whilst staying efficient;
  • Project management;
  • Production-focused troubleshooting of assay-based products (in collaboration with R&D teams); and
  • Communicating progress to senior management.

What you'll need to succeed
Excellent communication, organisational, time and project management skills are essential for this challenging role, as are problem solving and people management abilities.
You should also have a science degree (or equivalent), plus extensive work experience within production.
You will have a track record of management within production, ideally of people and projects, and be familiar with/have worked to GMP and/or GLP.
Your production experience should come from the diagnostics, healthcare, veterinary, biotech or pharmaceuticals industry, and you should have some technical understanding of ELISA, PCR or other molecular biology techniques.
