Your new role
We’re looking for someone to define, implement and maintain our data strategy and an effective data governance framework. They will be required to establish effective strategic relationships within government and with third parties and be responsible for leading ongoing development to ensure that our data strategy adapts to changes in the marketplace and regulation.

What you'll need to succeed
Ensure that the data strategy and its implementation remain relevant, making the best use of data and compliance with all necessary regulations. 
Work with departmental data owners and ensure there is effective maintenance, control and governance of all data. 
Be an integral part of the directorate’s senior management decision making group and lead on the custodianship, implementation and ongoing development of the data strategy. 
Develop and implement a process for identifying new and best sources of information and integrating these into the data model Identify a long term strategic partner to assist us in defining a Data Strategy and delivering a company-wide Data warehouse capability.
Develop relationships with key third-parties for Management Information (MI) and Business Intelligence services (BI). 
Be the custodian of the business data model.
  
Ensure there is a consistent, efficient and secure process for storing, sharing and accessing information including metadata, documents, XML feeds or media assets across all operational areas.
Support business initiatives by providing advice and ensuring that they comply with the data strategy.  
Lead Data innovation and discovery.
Embed data into the business process to improve effectiveness and efficiency Increase data transparency and assurance.

Essential criteria

Experience of designing and implementing a data strategy, and a data governance framework. 
Experience of networking at senior level with internal and external strategic partners. 
Knowledge of appropriate IT toolsets used to develop and maintain data models and strategies. 
Knowledge of pension scheme administration principles, regulation, best practice and landscape. 
Pension audit techniques. 
Understanding of investigative forensic accounting techniques is desirable.  
Understanding of insolvency and business recovery processes is desirable.
